Hi!
This website is a journal of the things I have created, learned, current projects, shared, events attended, and opinions. It is a place to share techniques and tips that work for me, and may work for others as well. When it comes to costuming and cosplay, I really enjoy sharing knowledge and helping the community. I love sharing the work I have done and how things were put together. If you would like to join along when I am working on projects, I am streaming on Twitch.
I have been sewing costumes before I even knew what cosplay and conventions were. I have been actively into cosplay since 2004 when I attended my first anime convention, Otakon. Now I am addicted to making cosplays and costumes recreating outfits from my favorite anime, movies, books, art, and also designing some of my own original creations. I have no formal training in sewing or design, but I learned basic sewing from my Mother growing up, and I learn as I go using a lot of trial and error and seam rippers. I also learn from other cosplayers, crafters, artisans, and from research. The International Costumers' Guild is a great source of meeting other costumers and creators. My local guild is the Sick Pups. Throughout the year, I attend various events and conventions, where I am an attendee, panelist, staffer, volunteer, guest, craftsmanship and masquerade judge, and even sometimes sell my crafts in artist alley. My cosplays have earned a few awards over the years, but mostly, I just cosplay for fun. As should you! Cosplay photography is also something I dabble in, and I am always working to improve my skills.
As of late, I find myself staffing more as a way to give back and share my love of cosplay and community. I was the head of cosplay for Zenkaikon from 2008-2016 running the hall competition, masquerade, prop check, and cosplay ball. As a member of Delaware Anime Society, I help local events run cosplay events and help run and judge competitions. I have presented panels on "Elitism in Cosplay", "Cosplay 101", "Parents Intro to Conventions", and my most recent panel for "Con Historians" to reminisce and reflect on the changes in the community since the early days of conventions and cosplay. You will find me at cons working the video game department, working pachinko for charity, or mostly in the cosplay repair department. If your convention is in need of a cosplay repair department and staff, please reach out to me for info.
Video games are also favorite pastime of mine and I try to play whenever I can. Twitch is where you will find me streaming my gaming and crafting.
